Parades

Just like the song goes..." Iiiiiiiiiiiii Love a Parade..."  Sag Harbor is home to a number of parades during the year - some to commemorate holidays, and some to kick-off some wonderful festivals!  Come on down and see a variety of participants, bands, antique cars, fire trucks, and more!

Our annual Memorial Day parade is held every year on Memorial Day Monday to honor those who have served in our Armed Forces and made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country.  Sag Harbor is very proud of this parade - its participants include the members of our American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Fire and Police Departments, Local Government and Dignitaries, Schools, Scouts, and Historical Societies.  The Sag Harbor Community Band starts performing at 9am on Main Street, right in front of the movie theater, while the parade participants get ready to step off at Otter Pond at 10am.  Once they've marched down Main Street, there are memorial ceremonies and speeches at Marine Park and then at the American Legion building on Bay Street.  The Community Band accompanies the ceremonies, which are followed by free hot dogs and refreshments for the public.

Parades are also a great kick-off to a weekend festival.  Look for another fun parade on Saturday morning of the Chamber's HarborFest weekend, sponsored by the Sag Harbor Chamber of Commerce.

On the Saturday before Halloween, the Sag Harbor Parents and Teachers Association sponsors a Halloween Parade down Main Street.  It usually begins at 12 noon, and participants should gather at the Sag Harbor Launderette, near the Flag Pole on the North end of Main Street.

Summer Concerts

If you love music, you'll love Sag Harbor in the summertime.

On Tuesday nights during July and August, come down to the American Legion Hall (Home of the Dockside Bar and Grill) on Bay Street to hear the Sag Harbor Community Band play FREE outdoor concerts from 8:00-9:00pm.  From Mozart to Marches, Show Tunes and Sing-a-longs, you'll find fun for the whole family!  Bring your beach chair and set up in the streets directly across from the Band, or sit on the patio of the Dockside Bar & Grill and enjoy the music while eating a delicious meal or sipping a nice summer cocktail.  For more information about the Sag Harbor Community Band, call President Dave Lee at 725-0429.  New members are always welcome, so drag out that old instrument that you probably haven't played since High School and join us!

On Thursday nights during August (except during the week of the Sag Harbor Fire Department Carnival), the Sag Harbor Chamber of Commerce sponsors FREE concerts on the grounds of Marine Park on Bay Street.  From the stage of the Suffolk County Showmobile, you'll be entertained by a variety of musical performers.  Bring your beach chairs, a blanket, a picnic dinner and lots of friends!  You won't be disappointed!  Concerts begin at 7:30pm.  More more information, visit our August Calendar Page, or call George Simonson, the event chairman, at 725-0752.
