Dear Captain:

The Village of Sag Harbor welcomes you and your crew.  We hope that you enjoy your stay in this whaling port, find our people helpful and friendly, and that you will return often.

For your pleasure and convenience, we are endeavoring to maintain and improve the quality of the water in our harbor.  To do so, the Village of Sag Harbor has developed a set of simple rules which are listed below.  Please read them carefully and abide by them for our mutual benefit.

Harbor Rules

1.  No boat shall remain at any Village Marine facility without a permit.  Mooring and dockage slots may not be privately sublet or reassigned, and only one vessel is permitted per slot.  Rafting in the Harbor is prohibited.

2.  Change in ownership of vessel must be reported to the Dock Office.  Dockage fees will not be refunded once a permit is issued.

3.  The Harbor speed limit is five (5) miles per hour and/or No Wake.

4.  Water skiing, power surfboarding, jet skiing, etc. are prohibited within five hundred (500) feet from the shore, docks, moorings and the like.  Swimming is prohibited in the Outer Harbor.

5.  Reckless endangerment and/or the operation of any vessel while under the influence of drugs or alcohol is prohibited.

6.  Vessels must be kept in good "seamanlike" condition.

7.  Garbage Recepticals are available - please use them.

8.  No sewage, oil, fuel, trash or fish carcasses of any kind may be deposited in the Harbor.  Docks and bulkheads must be kept clean and unobstructed.

9.  Use our free Pumpout Facilities.  Arrange for pumpouts with the Harbormaster or the Dockmaster.

10.  Use care when fueling your boat.  All oil spills must be reported to the Harbormaster.

11.  Use biodegradable cleaners when cleaning boats.

12.  No engine or noise producing device (whistle, radio, gun, etc.) shall be operated between 8:00pm and 8:00am except when entering or departing the Harbor.

13.  Public Restrooms are available for your convenience on Bay Street, adjacent to Marine Park, and in the Municipal Building on Main Street.
